Using a Beneficiary Designation to Make a Gift to Charity

Using a Beneficiary Designation to Make a Gift to Charity

I first became aware of the Augusta Health Foundation when a friend invited me to join the Board of Directors. Before that, I had a vague awareness that Augusta Health is a community health system, but my only experiences were as a patient of the Diabetes and Endocrinology practice and an appendectomy. At my very first Board meeting I witnessed the power of philanthropy to make a real difference in the lives of my neighbors who may not be as fortunate as I am. The Augusta Health Foundation serves as an amplifier of the good that exists in our community by directing funds to the Health System's programs that provide care to those most in need. From that first meeting over five years ago it has been my privilege to help that effort in some small way. My wife Sonja and I were moved by the simple and direct improvements made by the Foundation in providing grants for clothing for patients sent home from the Emergency Department, transportation for individuals to get to and from important appointments and medical procedures, and support of Augusta Health team members during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our legacy gift helps ensure that we can continue supporting this beautiful and vital asset to our community.
